Synergy Day 2014

AMPEL’s Synergy Day 2014 was a great success. A standing-room-only crowed enjoyed an excellent set of 3 minute summary presentations from grad students and postdocs, followed by a BBQ lunch (sans rain), and a packed poster viewing session. The day finished off with two group presentations that described synergistic projects involving the development of new steel alloys, and a fascinating new type of electron emitter based on a forest of carbon nanotubes. The latter also provided a glimpse of exciting new initiatives that will coming soon, associated with the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Quantum Matter.

Congratulations to Risa Wang, and Martina Capsoni, our two student award-winners for their oral and poster presentations respectively.
